I have always wanted to build a bamboo bike. Summer 2021, during the tail end of what I considered the lockdown portion of the pandemic, I bought a build your own bamboo bicycle kit from Bamboo Bicycle Club. From there, I was off to the races, well, not quite, it took until Summer 2023 to put all the finishing touches on the bike. I learned so much about bikes along the way! Here’s the retelling of the journey. Enjoy!
So while I bought the kit in 2021. I didn’t start the build until summer 2022. There were three reasons why: (1) I was incredibly busy and (2) I needed to find a space I could build the bike in, and (3) I didn’t want to start the build in late summer and then have a half-complete bike chilling through winter.
